Fuck.

Getting on a bus tomorrow morning to go see how my Grandma is doing.

I'm sorry for your loss. The thought of this haunts me daily given the age and condition of my grandfather. I wish you the best.

Is this a new feature on PRF or a doing of Windows Vista (btw, for the love of God, don't spend a penny on this shit, even if all the laptops in the store have it. Hours of turning things off to get it work a bit faster and to make it look more like XP/2000 guarenteed. CRAP. Oh yeah, this new graphic engine is the first thing tu turn off, even on a new computer. CRAP again. I still haven't found "my network" so I'm accessing other computers in the network by their IP's. Did I mention it's CRAP?)

DNA Concept wrote:It's been a gorgeous day, chilly but bright and clear and with piles of fresh snow sparkling in the light. My birthday, and I decided to Try New Things instead of sitting on my ass all day and reading. A roommate and two friends were going cross-country skiing on the mountain, and I was cajoled into going along on my first such outing.

Mighty struggles ensued, which gave me new respect for the GI Joe character in the white outfit and red beard who's always skiing up and offering alpine suggestions to the rest of the Joes. About halfway through one of the friends took a nasty tumble and wrenched his already bad back, so the rest of the afternoon was taken up with returning skis at the chalet -- packed like a stockyard and full of poorly behaved children -- and finding the guy's painkillers. I just got in the house, chilled to the bone and exhausted, and am drinking whiskey and wiggling numb extremities.

You mean Snow Job?

Dance contest on New Year's went well. It ended up being just me, solo, and a costumed performance ensemble of some kind (I arrived an hour past midnight so I missed their routine).

A victor was never announced.

HERE's the song I twirled around to.

I had fun. In the middle of my routine, though, this girl came up and started dancing with me. I gave her about ten seconds of dancefloor companionship before politely veering away, seeing as how it wasn't intended to be a joint effort.

I need to get a manager or right hand man of some kind to intervene next time.

"Hey, lady. Hands off the merchandise."

If anyone knows of any companies that are hiring physicists, let me know. You can find the majority of my coworkers and me at the bar.

Quel fromage.

What, the company tank, or are they just going to wing it now on the science bit?

Apparently we have been on the verge of running out of money for quite a bit of time now. The very highly paid dual presidents just neglected to tell us about it until this morning. Don't worry though, they and the highly paid consultant relatives they hired will be fine.

Dammit I need some 35mm color film.

I work til 6.

All the photo places close at 6.

I have no TA's in the office so I can't leave.

I wish I could either snap my fingers and have a minion appear with 5 rolls of Portra 160VC, or magically transform my 120 rolls into 35mm cassettes.
