5962Guilty as charged...but let's be fair that sadly...rsmurphy wrote: Sun Sep 14, 2025 10:21 amIt's FM zorg who said he was unaware of Kirk. I am all too familiar with Turning Point and its acolytes. I believe Zorg's point is that if you aren't online you can afford to be ignorant of harmful groups like TP and the racism, homophobia, and misogyny they foment.jeff fox wrote: Sun Sep 14, 2025 9:02 am Randy, I definitely envy your lack of awareness on this fuckhead.
I see where your confusion lies, Jeff. I was calling out the privilege of others who can afford to be ignorant of Kirk.Randy wrote:don't mean to sound like a dick, but it is truly a privilege to have not known about the existence of Charlie Kirk.

But I get that, because I can pass, it is a privilege to not actively track the latest assemblage of ghoulish influencers, and who is taking the pole position now. I don't know if I could, really.racism, homophobia, and misogyny

Re: Politics
5963That 80% of the article is “killing people is bad” is kind of hilarious. It’s basically a long caveat that murder=bad with a “let’s not forget he spent his entire adult life making vulnerable people’s lives miserable for money.”
Just to clarify, murder, bad.

5964Jacobin is still around doing good work.
This recent piece/interview is great:

We haven't even mentioned / touched on the recently revealed Navy Seal murders in North Korea under the first Trump admin. Wild story, sick.
Then there's this, which I haven't managed to more than skim yet:

Re: Politics
5965I heard about this, there's a Chapo extras episode that talks about this. It's from 2019. It's fucking awful. But also, not surprsing. They ask the great question of, how many fuckups does the US Military have like this per year? I'm sure it's more than one.jimmy spako wrote: Mon Sep 15, 2025 10:03 am Jacobin is still around doing good work.

5966Speaking of Youtube Channels, I've been impressed with this dirtbag lefty US Army veteran: https://www.youtube.com/@SonsofLibertyOfficial
After Kirk was shot, before we knew who the shooter was, he had a really good analysis of who the shooter could be, but more specifically, who the shooter would not be. But he nailed it on the fucking head.

Re: Politics
5967I have a lot of friends that have posted smug and or celebratory responses to charlie kirk's shooting, but none of them can actually give me a good answer for how it actually improves anything at all.
Re: Politics
5968I'll give you one; he was a harmful person who will now do no more harm. You can speculate all you like about how other bad people will do bad things in his name, but that's going to happen either way, and correlation is not causation.TylerDeadPine wrote: Mon Sep 15, 2025 10:21 am I have a lot of friends that have posted smug and or celebratory responses to charlie kirk's shooting, but none of them can actually give me a good answer for how it actually improves anything at all.
Re: Politics
5969I would be hesistant to make too many assumptions about the shooter or his world exactly. I'm afraid it could really be someone coming from a place some/many of us could relate to, at least abstractly, and that we have seen expressed here.
