Richard Thompson is still good, although he's not a band. Also Cardiacs.
I haven't heard any good, new UK rock bands in years though; left-field UK bands seem more often than not to be feeble imitations of US bands. There must be at least a bazillion UK Shellac-bands and Slint-bands and Don-Cab bands, and don't even get me started on the currently swelling number of Lightning Bolt bands!!
Time a UK band started to borrow riffs from AC Temple perhaps, now they were a good band.

Why did you leave?? (heh heh)
Funny thing is.. last summer, I met a guy who left Franz Ferdinand before they became Franz Ferdinand.
I guess the lesson here is: if you're one degree away from me, and you're in a rock band in the UK, DON'T LEAVE IT! (that is, if you want to be in a hyped/popular UK rock band and deal with all that shit.)
I had made it clear to Barry that because I had become a father, and had a mortgage and was in a wonderful relationship, and had a decent salary, that I wasn't prepared to give all that up for a year or so's worth of frivolity. So I was not part of his new project, as he wanted to make a go of it. Good for him. And good for me, as I would not have made a good pop star. That's why. Ho ho.

64Giddy Motors have split up. A real shame.
My pretty pony! Why, Zorak, why? You could have had any woman you wanted! But you chose the woman I love almost as much as I love myself! You ruined my life, you ruined her life, and now, I'm going to ruin your life!!!

I think we have an n-th degree of separation going on here for I know (sort of) Mr G Hardwick and his lovely droning in Economy Of Motion.
EA Poster Chris Summerlin! you fit into this scheme somewhere too.
tsk! for not mentioning Souvaris.
I would disturb you further by asking if you're going to see The Dead Texan this evening?

70HUNTING LODGE, a band I recently discovered after another dude on this forum, Bartok, posted some shit about them, are a British band.
Judging by four mp3s i found by them on the internet, they are pretty damn good.
