What, no Cat Power?
Friends of mine who are big fans describe what seems to me like a test of endurance. I think her music is alright but fuck if I'm spending $20 for that.

Worst band I've seen?
Easy. OKGO.
Describing the hideous terror that their live set encompasses would take more time than I have, and may not even be expressable in English.

A lot of people that saw my band's last show would have said that we were the worst band they'd ever seen. We were suffering from terrible live sound, and though we played really well, nobody really liked our music... stupid closed-minded "punk" jerks... not that I'm bitter, but they did dislike us enough to steal our drum machine...

Arab on Radar.
Saw them at Michigan Fest 2002. Terrible. There were a few other really bad bands but I remember AoR being especially shitty.
The Mars Volta.
I don't want to hear your special "extended jam version" of the song I somewhat like from the record. Keep that shit in the practice space.
Thursday.
I don't remember where I saw them, but they were opening for somebody. It would be great if the singer did more posing with his arm in the air.
Peaches.
People actually like this shit? The best part was the weird german films that were showing on the screen beside the stage.
Caroline's Spine.
Saw them open for KISS on New Years 99/00 in Detroit. I don't remember much except that my dad was with me and he said, "Wow. These guys are shit, aren't they?"

Huh, that's fascinating. I saw the tape of that festival and I don't think I've ever witnessed a group of bands playing together where one band's performance so completely nullifies the existence of all the others. I've actually considered that the tape should be shown to all new bands in their orientation as a sort of gauntlet.
I figured the expression on the people's faces in the front row must mean they smelled bad or something. I guess that wouldn't explain all the people plugging their ears. So why didn't you like it? Who
did you rate in that cringefest?

"i think the only band i've ever been moved to heckle repeatedly is love jones. someone who was in some incarnation of slint was in this band? i think? i recall this being their claim to fame."
Love Jones. I never heard them, because I thought I wouldn't like them. So I can't say I ever heard them.
But the drummer, Ben Daughtrey, was in Squirrel Bait. So, you've gotta ask: what's the worst post-Squirrel Bait band. Was it Love Jones? Big Wheel? Lots of people don't like Gastr Del Sol at all, and I'm sympathetic.
Tough call, that one. I'd bring it up on the Rank thread, but there really isn't any more rank thread.

Cypress Hill- Lollapalooza 95, West Virginia- They were recording a live album and kept on redoing cuts to get a good one. I think they played for an hour and a half.
White Stripes- Opening for Pavement, Baltimore 99- Jack White was doing all this hack psuedo Eddie Van Halen stuff and they played for way too long.
Deerhoof- Just this past Wednesday in Baltimore- Sloppy but not in a good way. Pavement at their worst was better.
Unwound-Any time I saw them- Talk about boring and lifeless performance.
The Raymond Brake- 98 maybe in Baltimore- Proof that heroin is not a worthwhile drug.
