The Big Boys are good, but the Ohio Players are not?
Sean Paul records are more radical than Slint.
And the way those dancehall gyals dance is more rock n roll than GBV.

66The owner of this site is renowned for his opinions, so what good is this forum if opinions can't be expressed.
That said, I have a lot of respect for Steve's bands and his recorded projects, so I don't mean to dis to hard.
But come on, what in post punk indi rock of the last 25 years has been truely innovative?
All you get is anal discussions of recording techniques that were used decades ago, or the same "Fugazi only charge 6 bucks a show!", or "It's really cool being a retarded musician like Calvin or Daniel Johnson", and whatnot.
Quincy Jones production on Brothers Johnson records was more progressive and influential than anything Martin Hannett or Spot or Kramer ever did.
Stevie Wonder used synths before Kraftwerk.
Reggae soundsystems sound better than the Clash.
Three Six Mafia have better rhythms than the Effigies, !!!, or the DFA.

All you've done on this forum is express your opinions. When have you been censored?

Read the threads and posts on this forum. Where are the stupid caricatures you posited being discussed?

I've heard the Brothers Johnson. Nothing Quincy Jones did on Brothers Johnson records is more "progressive" than Martin Hannett.
Of course Quincy Jones is more influential- way more people have heard his work.
Comparing these people with Spot (who is black, by the way) is just retarded.
krakabash wrote:Stevie Wonder used synths before Kraftwerk.
Florian Fricke, a white German guy, used synths before Stevie Wonder. So what?
krakabash wrote:Reggae soundsystems sound better than the Clash.
The dump from my dog's ass sounds better than the Clash.

The Effigies? These guys are in a pitched battle of rhythms against Three Six Mafia? Like Spot duking it out with Quincy Jones? Wtf?
Look, I get it- black guys don't get credit for being weird and innovative. Indie rock is racist and it sucks. I get it. You're really provocative with this shit. Have fun.

68Martin Hannett was a Soulboy.
He wanted to BE Quincy Jones.
Because Dance/Electronic music has always been the cutting edge.
What would Joy Division have been without the influence of Kraftwerk, The Crusaders, King Tubby, or Bernie Worrel?
The third rate Stooges rip off they were when they were called Warsaw.
