Personally, I think the greatest drummer of all time was a guy called Roland that played for some little chicago punk band, but i forgot the name.

Isn't it more important to write better songs than to be the best player of a particular instrument?

Having said that, I'll take the bait. I think Janet Weiss has made each band she's played in much better than it would be if it had a different drummer.

My personal fave is probably Birdstuff/Brian Teasley. When playing with Shannon Wright, he was so instense and seemed to be in physical and emotional pain during the slow, weird songs. With Man or Astroman? he was absolutely incredible, especially on their later stuff such as the song called "trapezoid."*

Oh and super hi-fives to Janet Weiss, also. And I actually like Meg White's drumming, too.


* I tried making a trapezoid out of punctuation marks, to no avail.
