Good enough for me...I just wanted to know the speaker size, tubes, watage, etc....give me an idea of what it might sound like.
Nice amp...I'm one of the many who are jealous!

-30 watts or so (?) into a 15" speaker--likely a Jensen unless it's been replaced since manufacture
-tubes: 2 6L6s, 2 12AX7s, and a 5U4 rectifier
-external speaker output jack on the back panel
-2 channels--clean or else tremolo with speed control, as well as tone and volume controls for each channel (the tremolo sounds amazing, which seems to be common among all amps of this ilk)
-1 footswitch jack to turn the tremolo on and off. My psycho-roommate's boyfriend stole the original footswitch because he was a kleptomaniac asshole, but my ex-husband made me a new one out of an old "teet salve" tin (I was not previously aware that cows' teets required moisturizing).
I'm guessing the circuit is probably similar to a fender tweed amp.
Each 12ax7 has two gain stages, so the firt is most likely 1 gain stage per channel. The second tube then has to have one gain stage for the tremolo oscillator and one tube for a split load pahse inverter, like a tweed deluxe.
The buzzing is either a bum capacitor or maybe a tube heater wire that's too close to the signal path. If you plan on playing the amp, and not just being a collector, switch out all the electrolytic caps (carefully!).
Keep the old ones because in case you ever do sell it, collectors are funny like that.
Cheers.
Ben Adrian

Not to be a party-pooper or dis on Mandriod's amp, but... when I saw it, I was slightly disappointed. I was hoping for something that (to me) would beat
this thing as far as "neat-looking with lights and stuff".

Crate BX 80 (discontinued, bought it around '94)
Haven't been much of an amp guy (or a serious musician, for that matter), but it got me by in several bands.
I used it a lot for guitar and baritone, too. You could get decent distortion out
of it.
A guy I know (with his 1970 something Twin Reverb) tried to talk me into getting a "real amp," but fuck him, if you're jamming largely on the garage/basement niveau, why the fuck should you be spending four figures for the priviledge of having a good time?

I have never spent four figures on an amp. The key is to target your buying to amps that look beat but dont sound that way; it keeps out the collector scum. Most of my amps and cabs (Marshalls, Fenders, the others I mentioned above) have looked like they'd been drug through a trash dumpster filled with burning cigarettes and old paint cans. Not all, but most. They are all real amps. They were also all far less than four figures.
I am a cheapskate.

Silvertone 1484 head. The reverb's dead, alas - might get it fixed over winter break - but everything else is intact and sounds brilliant. 1x12 cab with a Weber 30 watt Ceramic Blue Dog, which I think has to be one of the most awesome speakers ever.
endofanera wrote:#3 -- Silvertone 1484. Reverb still works and is spacious as all fuck. Otherwise entirely stock, except for speaker out (cord replaced with 1/4" jack) and power cord (grounded cord added). I dont like it when folks refer to her as "the Jack Black amp." She is not. Dammit.
If anyone calls it the Jack White amp (still waiting for a Jack Black/Jack White collaboration), tell 'em no, you mean the Lou Reed amp.

Music Man 1x12 65, with a Weber speaker after the original went to shit last spring.
Such a workhorse.
The guitar player in my band ended up using it on two tours after her other amps got all finicky (Fender Pro Reverb, 65-ish) or almost burst into flames (1x12 Ampeg combo from the 60s, with an acordian input).

I have a MM Sixty Five Reverb head. They are underated amps IMO. Great for beautiful Fender'y cleans.
