best record ever of all time and you know it!
62kenoki wrote:what is the best record ever of all time, in your most humble opinion? this has to be the kind of record you can listen to at any moment and almost any mood--changeable like a moodring or mood lipstick, and you can't base it on some sick teenage obsession where you just got use to a band that wasn't actually any good. sorry, i tried searching this topic but it brought up 1702 things even after limiting to general discussion, for kerble.
thank you!
*also if you provide a picture say who the band is, the record, and provide a brief description in any style and of any length. your reward will be big big props from my mind.
Mstislav Rostropovich's take on Bach's 6 Suites for Cello. That's probably that record for me.

I'm pretty sure I could listen to nothing but this album for the rest of my life and be happy.

65Well I must admit I just don't feel like I have anything like the necessary authority to pronounce what I think the best record ever is.
I will definitely and unreservedly say that the first side of this record is one of my favourite records ever.
My other one was originally three Aerial M singles, but has now been compiled together and makes up the first two sides, or first record, in this album:
But this one holds a special place in my heart too.
Most Swans appreciators aren't into it, I should imagine, but it's there for me at my lowest or heaviest or emptiest places and I appreciate that kind of thing.

68picking a top three is cheating
I've listened to it for 20 years and it has never palsied in my imagination. The longer tracks are repetitive without ever growing monotonous, the shorter ones are punchier than Joe Pesci, the lyrics are confounding and intriguing without seeming pretentious, the cover art is fine and they're my favourite band of all times.
