Curious that you picked this relatively obscure Kurosawa title when the most obvious choice would have been Rashomon, Ikiru or Ran. So salut!.

As for myself, I couldn't possibly narrow it down to ten alone. Last Tango in Paris with Brando first pops into the head.

well, the reason why is because dodeskaden is the first kurozawa filmed in color, in this movie he experiment a lot of tricks with the colors and they are absolutly wonderfull, this is not a very known kurozawa film, but it's certenly one of the most beautiful , the second reason is that is a real actual storie ,like in "les bas fond" it's talking about powerty, sillyness, broken dreams, and a little community who tries to survive in this society , and it's about peoples! in this century !!!

Oh i forgot something, "dodeskaden" is a totaly independent one, you know kurozawa, like a lote of directors mades films for studios (to live of course) with all the productions restraints, and olso makes indipendents films where he 's totally free to do what he whant.
This one was produce scribe and directing by himself, for exemple Ran (who is a wonderfull one) was produce by F Coppola and G Lucas to make him known to the usa, Rashomon is a studio movie...etc...
In general it's in the own directors production where whe can see how much talent he have, this movies are more personnel, you know it's really difficult to a director who had producers to make the movie he really whant!!

i encourage everyone to see this masterpiece "dodeskaden"!!

hell yea Todd haynes "safe" this one is really strange i like a lot!!
