I'll be the guy that may or may not be there alone (depending on who else shows up!) wearing the glasses and the red tshirt that says "I conquered the cube" and has a picture of a knight standing on top of a Rubik's Cube. This shirt is not ironic, as it is true!

See youze there?!?!

I just saw that shirt over the weekend. You weren't in Wicker park or a at a Comic convention this past weekend where you?

Is the mead ale that I've been trying to remember the name of for the past two years?

It's a scotch ale, probably my favorite. Here's the BeerAdvocate page. (RR) I can't say I've seen it at any of the other brewpubs, although available bottled beers do change, but Quencher's has always had it when I've been there.

G-man's OK. Weekend nights and baseball days are the pits. Good jukebox. As with so many other bars, "it used to be better." One thing that has not changed - half the staff seem to be complete assholes, and the other half are quite friendly.

If you're in the neighborhood, go a mile further north and hit Simon's or the Hopleaf.

That's been my experience too, though there's often no avoiding b'ball days. One of my friends works for the Cubs, which is a primary reason G-man became their place. They tend to skip baseball nights now. And yeah, half the time I get an asshole behind the bar, though they have introduced me to the handful of good bartenders there, with many a tasty and free beer following.

Simon's and Hopleaf...gotta look into that. I think the only other bar in Chicago in which I've spent any appreciable amount of time is Duke of Perth.

Oh man! I'm getting thirsty. The only place on the north side that actually feels like England. Well, Scotland anyway, but I've never been to Scotland. A treasure-it's been there for ages, but I worry about them going out of business as it's dead empty half the time I go in.

Yep, I've spent a shitload of time there. It used to be almost the only bar I went to, back about 2000. There and Club Foot. Gingerman had, at the time, 3 pool tables. Now they only have two, but they're still very playable, and there's more than one, so that's grand.

I dunno if she's still there, but the other reason I used to go there all the time was a bartendress named Lisa. Last I know of her is that she's in the roller derby here in town. Dunno if she's still at the G-man.

If I ever to go a show at the Metro, there's a good chance I'll go to G-man before or afterward to do my drinking, what with Metro's prices being sickening.

Pool at Gingerman, as long as there isn't a Cubs game goin on, I would most certainly be down with. I liked their jukebox, at least when I used to go there all the time.
