As in, other devices sort of did this first, but this perfected the concept?
I'll buy that.
Same with the iPod. It wasn't the first MP3 player, but the turn-key package side of it, and the moron proof software makes it so moms and dads could use it.

Even the early iPods were simple enough to understand for, well, people like me, who didn't want to deal with other MP3 players. The Early Adopters get people like me interested and I become a Johnny Appleseed type guy - A "vector" as the Malcom Gladwells of the world say in their crazy language.

So yeah, I think Apple will win with this one, eventually. The first device like this was a Motorola/Apple hybrid. Getting Motorola out of the equation probably helped.

It's all about the muf'kin interface, yo.

I'll hold off on passing judgement until I get to play with one, but it's probably pretty cool.

The iPhone will make it popular though.

But Apple will make it popular by making it easy to use and very pretty. It's not just fanboys and hype. This really is a superior product. (Albeit an expensive one...for now...)

Fuck this thing. Just shows how many blind consumers we have in this country who HAVE to have the latest new 'gadget'. I found my cellphone on the floor of a bank. It rings. I can call people with it. Thats all I need. I have a portable CD player I bought at the thrift store for 6 dollars to play music. Lets say you already have an iPod and a cell phone... Why buy this? I don't need to surf the net all the time. I don't want to watch movies on a tiny screen everywhere I go. It seems other posters on the premmy-air rock forum feel the same. Its unecessary. Say you spend $600 bucks for this after waiting in line for 3 days only to get mugged a day later and someone takes it? Shit, I'm starting to sound like Marsup.

Check that out. The mayor of Philadelphia is more concerned about getting an iPhone than tending to his mayoral duties. There is something seriously wrong here.
