I'm with you.

WTF?!

"Hey Jude" is great!

One argument against it: paved the way for the modern "power ballad."

Is "Sweet Child o' Mine" a "power ballad"? I ask because it's about a thousand times better than "Hey Jude." "Hey Jude" sucks. And it goes on for fucking ever. Ever. Ever. Ever. Owww! ad nauseaum . . .

[cue a bunch of irate, incredulous posts from kerble . . .]

Hey Jude is a very good song. And I like that they snuck a fairly clear "fuckin' hell" on the radio in 1968.

d'yer maker is also one that came to my mind for zep. the ballads and meandering blues jams are also terrible, but they don't exarcerbate the badness by being also CATCHY, which is just painful. can't let that song get stuck in my head.

rolling stones "under my thumb" or "brown sugar" -- both are offensive, it's a tough call...
barenaked ladies "one week"
flaming lips "she don't use jelly"
lenny kravitz "fly"
kylie minogue "can't get you out of my head"
primus "is it luck?"

NO. NO. NO. Please do not erase this beautiful song.

nah, do it.

fuck john cale in his huge, welsh nose.

Ok. What is wrong with this song? I really want to know.

Yeah. I can understand not liking the lyrics part but the music is great! On top of that, what's wrong with John Cale anyways?

sorry if someone mentioned this in the thread already, but the vocals and the music are panned hard in opposite directions so you can always get rid of the talking... much better...

"Brown Sugar"? Since when has it been offensive to write a song about nailing an underage black chick? I thought that was what most of pop music has been about for the last 10 years. They were just ahead of their time.

I would've included these if the thread had been devoted to erasing every song from a band's discography.

"Hate To Feel" by Alice In Chains.

It's a shitty, shitty song. I like the band and Dirt would have been a better album without that song. The riff blows ass, the structure is completely awkward, the lyrics are tedious misery instead of affecting misery, and the multiple-Staley "vibrato-at-the-end-of-every-vocal-phrase" thing is overdone/overcooked and invents all those scatmuncher "alt-metal" bands with corny misspelled names who get radio play.

If there is one thing I do NOT like about this group, it is that so many morons ripped them off wholesale and now make a profit on it.

That's funny, I always thought they whored themselves on "Wild Thing."

It's not even on one of their albums. I nearly forget it exists sometimes.

The ubiquitous "Purple Haze" is worthy of destruction. Whatever resonance this song had for me as a kid is gone now. BYE.

Think not... go into any guitar store and walk past the instructional rooms. "PLUNK PLANK PLUNK PLANK..."
