Phenomenon: Use of Word " Amazing"
62This term has fallen out of favor with me, due in part to a certain Steve's frequent abuse of it. After seeing a Shellac show in which the aforementioned party referred to the opening band (the Nerves) as "an amazing band," I was shocked that such a lexical genius would misapply such a seemingly self-evident term.
After all, it is intuitive that amazing is an adjective suitable for that which will leave one amazed/awestruck/bedazzled, etc.
The Nerves, however, were run of the mill, yet recieved the "amazing" stamp of approval from His Majesty.

Oh Jesus, Mazec, that's a little weak. I'm under the distinct impression that there is nothing in Mr. Steve Albini's character or conduct that warrants such facetiousness. He's revered and respected, sure, but come on, he was willing to argue with Matthew on the internet. Doesn't seem too uppity to me.
But, whatever. Awesome. Amazing. So great. Done here. Etc.

64Ok, let me clarify this.
This was meant as an attack on "amazing," which is overused by all kinds of people, not on the Man himself.
"Amazing" sounds like a general positive thing to say, when actual positive qualities are lacking.

65Lately I've taken to "fuckin' sweet" and thank you. I don't think I've ever seen a human being do anything consciously that was amazing... Maybe Daviid Yow but just maybe.

66At the risk of sounding haughty it's my opinion that superlatives and such are overused these days, much like curse words are. This is indicative of a culture that is inarticulate in common everyday speech.
