I was actually asking about the expression pedal. I read in another thread that some of those one-way volume controls (like for vcf filters) are poorly constructed. I know the one I'm currrently using is. I have to fix it every time I play because it just falls apart.

but yes, the expression pedal capabilities are probably the best feature on the moogerfoogers, and I'd love to invest in a reliable controller.

If you see a Boss FV-300L or FV-500L, pick one up. Solidly built (Boss, innit) pedal that can be used as both a volume and expression pedal at the same time.

I've used the FV-300L for around 5 years for both volume and expression pedal duties, and other than the occasional spray of contact cleaner on the pot, it's been bulletproof. Just like the Popemobile.

The high impedance is meant to go at the start of your effect chain, whereas the low impedance is meant to go at the end of it.

I use the low impedance and it works just fine, though I haven't tried any other expression pedals with the Moog.

I have the MoogerFooger ring mod pedal. I have had it for about 8 years. Its great. Its true you don't want to use it all the time but I still find myself using after all this time. In the right application I can be great. The tremelo sounds great on it. The Drive control as mentioned earlier also helps distort things nicely. The key with this pedal is to use it subtly. Wild sweeps of the knobs make it obvious that you are using it. It makes great percussive sounds if you are playing percussively on your guitar. It sounds really cool with an ebow. Definitely can make it sound like a modular synth. You can also patch the CV outputs back into the audio input and make some really crazy self ocsillating drum sounds and beeps.

Its a great pedal.

hey, has anyone used these for line level FX use? i was going to use it for live sound and was wondering if people had any issues going from balanced line level XLR to unbalanced 1/4"

Yo, dude, we use the Moogerfooger delay all the time with balanced XLR to unbalanced 1/4" connectors. I've never had a problem.

i tried to use it as an insert last night, and it didn't work very well... i bet on a nice console i could just return it to another channel and it would be ok, but i'm going to invest in some impedance switchers...

oh man, i got to really play with that MURF pedal last night?? jesus... synced it up with the click track so it was in time... fed pink noise through it and made a drum pattern using the different filters to make "kick", "snare" and "high-hat" sounds... amazing... serious tool... really weird, and amazing...
