Don't really care about the thing. What's your story with Alan Douches?

i would just link the old post where he trashed Douches for what ended up being a client's request (loud master), but surprise surprise, it's not there anymore..

not true at all. the client actually request a "dynamic master".

see greg, misinformation goes both ways.....

Ummm - J. - regarding "misinformation" -
I know from direct phone conversation with Alan Douches at the time of the original Recforum posts regarding this that what you heard was one of FOUR different files that he provided (for the clients ears only) as a prelimary demonstration regarding different approaches he could take in the mastering - for them to pick out which approach they liked the best.

The one that you posted publically was the one that demonstrated "full on crush" - what you didn't mention is that another file in the batch that he provided for the client used no brickwall limiting whatsoever. SO - he goes above and beyond call of duty for a client by providing them with a number of demonstrations of the results of what a variety options were - and then the mix engineer - who was not the client in this case - posted what was to be a private file to the public - without having first checked with him first to see whether this was ok - or even checking to see with him whether there was a misunderstanding in the first place that could have been cleared up prior to an unnecessary public venting.

I've had limited contact with Alan, but from all my conversations with him I can tell he is good guy and a deeply conscientious engineer who was very distraught that his business and personal reputation were being erroneously portrayed in a negative light.

Best regards,
Steve Berson

sorry, Alan lied to you, there was only one master and the band was asked to sign-off on that approach for him to finish the record that way.

it took him 7 more tries to get it to where they wanted it.

that's the truth!

We'd have no use for a Protools mixer dude. None.

Apparently the only thing Albini seems to use a computer for is playing online poker. I have yet to see him pop open Protools and fuck shit up. So he has that going for him.

To bad the drum sound on the Neurosis stuff is so weak though.
