I love my system but it needs some maintenance and I'd love to replace and add a few units, upgrade speaker wire etc. Reading this thread has got me eying my credit card.....thanks alot.

Anyway, here's what I'm running:

Pro-ject Debut III Turntable - I've had this for over 7 years. I really love this peice of equipment. Solid, no frills and sounds great.

Sumiko Oyster Cartridge

Pioneer SA-8500 II - This thing is a tank. I bought it used in 1994. Though it has some issues and could use an overhaul she has served me well. It's a beautiful looking amplifier to boot.

Some shite Sony 5 disc CD player. I fucking hate 5 disc changers....but my wife bought it for me after my old CD player shit the bed....very sweet intentions but.....

A pair of Monitor Audio B1s - I bought these about 3 years ago and I'm SO happy with the little guys. They are extremely full sounding despite their size and seem to have alot of clarity and great imaging.

I wish I could afford to be more of an "audiophile". I really try to buy the most quality items I can afford at the time and hope to own them for awhile. The units I have now have served me very well for what I've paid for them(save the CD player....and every other peice of shit CD player I've ever owned for that matter) so in that sense I'm really happy with my system. Like I said tho....it needs some work. The next thing on my list is a nice phono pre, a new cartridge and some decent speaker wire. I also want to get a decent power conditioner for the amp as well as my computer. Since I don't know a whole lot about mid/high end home audio equipment, any and all suggestions are appreciated. Great thread....I learned alot so far.

Pretty much all Marantz
3250 pre amp
170dc power amp
2100 tuner
2 sets of imperial VII speakers

then
NAD 613 cassette deck
kenwood kd-670 turntable (shure m97xe cart)
music hall cd25.2 cd player

all purchased at estate/garage sales for cheaper than turds, except the cd player which i bought from some fella off craigslist and the cartridge which i bought new. the only thing i plan on eventually replacing so far is the turntable, and only cuz it's about readly to kick the bucket...i was sorta thinking of buying a cheap vintage technics or a dual, but i'm thinking more and more about just dumping a couple grand on a new table. ah, dreamy dreams....

Avid volvaire, Morch DP6, Lyra Dorian or Dynavector 17DII into a diy 5751 tube phono stage to play my records.
Marantz 63KI for my CDs
Various home built tube amps
Sonus faber concertino speakers.
I regularly jerk off all over my cables and rub it in. It lubricates the electrons. Apparently whale sperm sprayed onto CDs is the in thing at the moment (seriously). These people wonder why they get laughed at. 'Just trust your ears' they say  .Its ok though, they're really into the music. As long as it has audiophile written on the packaging somewhere and is a 'really great recording'. You can't enjoy music otherwise. Nora Jones, we'll have a bit of that, then follow up by playing all 12 dark side of the moon pressings to see which one has the best 'sound quality'. Only 12?

I hate hifi and plan to ditch the amps and speakers next year. A pair of active monitors or a big pair of cheap tannoys from ebay will do me nicely. If I didn't have so many LPs I'd ditch that too.

Chris, that amp looks rather nice.

I see STC valves - the amp must be old!
