I've been sitting on these two class mixes from ORBITAL for a couple of weeks now, and I'm not entirely sure why. It takes some investment from me to sit down an digest an entire mix in one sitting, if not two. Regardless, now digging in and I suggest you should do the same. First mix started off too slow and unengaging for my tastes, but holy hell it has more than a few OH SHIT moments. Enjoy.

Managed to catch Plaid and christ. in Birmingham this weekend, supported by some great DJ's playing electro-type stuff afterwards, way into the early hours. I tend to be a dance-music tourist, as I'm not as invested as I am with more guitary-stuff (and not really a club-goer). But each time I dip into Residentadvisor or come across a mix-set, I'm struck by the textures and inventive approach, and feel I'm missing out on a whole entire swathe of music by not checking in more often. Silly really, as I do tend to like more rhythmic, repetitive stuff (eg. Krautrock). It's an old one, but Surgeon really kills it on this. Sounds just as fresh today... phpBB [media]

In honor of Disco Demolition here is one of the first, if not the first 12" remix. Tom Moulton is legendary and his extension of the groove nails it. I remember staring at the record as it spun around on the family turntable absolutely hypnotized by that fluid, moody groove. It's fantastic, and my #1 disco jam. Total heater.

Glenn Underground remixing Moroder's "I Feel Love" & "Chase." disco delirium. I feel like a bottle of poppers.

Immaculate tune that, though even that one trembles at the feet of Pandy live on Top of the Pops. That's how it's done right there.
