When it comes to lovers whose hearts have had the living shit kicked out of them, Merritt sings for all of us. (Unless you're some sort of pathological fuckup.)

"I Don't Want To Get Over You" is a great, sublime mixture of overwrought melodrama with dark humor and brutal truths, like the Camus-reading, vermouth-swilling drama queen mopester in black or the rebound relationship with someone who's a tad dim. I love it.

"I Don't Believe You" is a great song about calling out a player. There should be many more songs like these.
