What I said was definitely too strong, and I should have been more careful in my wording. I certainly didn't mean ALL women. But seriously, the notion of trading on sexual currency is one that has been with us for hundreds of years. I'm no sociologist, but I'd say historically it was linked to the disparity in rights between men and women, and has evolved over time as women have made greater strides toward equality in the eyes of the law and people all around.

If you read the op-ed, it's all about sex, Rick, and how we think and feel about it. Lauren's not interested in powerful figures, she's interested in sex and sexuality. Your own performance of virtual hyper-masculinity isn't all that stimulating, really.

You know, the way you go after men on this board, call them "pussies," attempt to dominate them, agitate them and dig up "old shit" out of context in order to distract from issues at hand; the way you yearn for heated, virtual grappling matches, wrought with emotion and anger, that play out again and again - and all with dudes online?

You should give human sex a try, Rick. It's pretty great. And if you could work your way up to a loving, intimate relationship, I think you'd be surprised how great that is, too. It's powerful.

What is so shocking about this?!? In a world where men - LOTS of men - objectify women as sexual objects, it's hardly surprising that some (NOT ALL, SOME!) women will try to use that to their advantage in myriad ways. Some of those women probably feel pressured to, some feel outright forced to, while some others maybe get a thrill out of it. Plenty of others - hell, probably the vast vast majority - have never had the need or desire to do anything close to it. But to get all worked up about someone pointing out the fact that it does exist is silly. How else do you explain trophy wives, high-end hookers and Paris Hilton?

This post is better. Nothing's shocking about people using either power (be it financial or political or sexual) to gain something. Happens all the time. What is shocking is that you seemed be a little sweeping in your original generalization & you managed to follow that up with a nice, 'hey, high-end hookers are womens' way of moving toward equality!'
