veruca salt, or poe, or soul coughing and we can debate their merits and singer's voice.
the guy from kula shaker had a good voice.
who still gives a fuck about this band? people who liked 'em when they were 15, that's who.

I was down with the Pumpkins for a few months in, what, 1993? '94? Whenever Siamese Dream was the current record. Of course, back then, i also tuned into the MTV Video Music Awards every year to watch awesome performances from the likes of Poison and Pearl Jam. So, that year, whichever one it was when Dream was the big jam, they played "Disarm" on the MTV Video Music Awards.

Holy butt-fucked Jesus on a barbecue spit did that song sound awful. Maybe it was the sub-par sound mixing, but Billy's voice was cranked WAY over everything else in the mix, and that braying jackass' jackassed bray made me glad i wasn't blind (because then i'd have enhanced hearing and i would have heard it even louder).

I've hated the Pumpkins ever since.

yeah, Disarm is a thoroughly terrble song all around though. there's not really much they could do with it in the first place. stupid words, terribly stupid words. hardcore whining about nonsense. fucking chimes and strings (almost a guarantee that a pop rock song is a piece of dogmeat that the producers built up to be the hit single). that song was always a piece of shit, even before they sucked it live on MTV, even back when it was the most popular pop song in all of MTV's ugly pop culture machine.

nothing to do with chicago. I don't dislike Fallout Boy any extra or Hole any less because of the town they're from. crap is crap, that's all.
