His ability of pissing people off with the truth, priceless. I hold in high regard, anyone who can/will preach the merits of psychedelics, in a logical, sensible fashion.
Sault, Mr. Hicks. You will forever be missed because you were not crap, in my mind.

Bill goes to the Dark Place.
Five minutes in, some drunk lady starts heckling him and Bill looses it. He calls her 'cunt' for like 10 minutes. Pretty much the entire hour is him alienating the entire audience (and not giving much of a shit), and not in an endearing way.
That's my fave. I listen to it seasonally.

Really? I find it kind of hard to listen to. Such a trainwreck. It gets ugly and Bill is not at his best. Interesting document though. Bill trying to decide if he should resurrect himself from comedy death is always a hoot.

Hicks was definitely a motherfucker when he was backed against a wall...especially in front of a crowd. I've read countless articles and interviews with may confrontational tales of woe and danger. Incendiary and fucking brilliant. Also my favorite Hicks recording.

Quite interesting. I always knew there was something familiar about Leary, and but couldn't figure out why I disliked him.
I love Hicks, especially his rants about drugs. Pure genius.
Another Texan in the Sacred Cow clan doing decent stuff similar to Hicks is Doug Stanhope. He's obviously following Bill and is influenced by him, but its not a blatant rip off like Leary

Well, not only did he steal his whole act from Bill Hicks, but he's also one of the most annoying and unfunny people in the world. God that guy gets on my ever-more-blubbery tits.

Tries to play the asshole angle, but comes short on the funniness.

Watching this, and yes there is a massive overlap, the big difference between them is that Leary looks like he's trying really hard to be angry and tough, whereas Hicks came across as quite a warm friendly bloke who got incredibly fucked off about things. Leary is really annoying, demanding you to be impressed by him, whereas Hicks is just trying to be funny. Similarly, I always really liked the Hicks stuff about his mum and dad, and growing up - it wasn't cool or edgy or risque, it was just funny.
Re Leary stealing material - this is blatant ("Whining little maggots?") but I'd concede slight WF in that I did stand-up for a couple of years, and whenever the Z-list comics I usually worked with got wound up about someone stealing their material, it was usually because it was the most obvious kind of observational stuff that anyone with half a brain or more would say to their friends, rather than some incredible imaginative leap. Here, if you're going to talk about smoking, then there is a large area of common ground - health warnings, non-smokers, even Jim Fixx - so a certain amount of overlap can be excused.

70There's some good stuff about comics ripping each other other off you tube, just search for Rogan Mencia.
The funniest thing I saw in the video was some guy who said he was the first one to say "I don't like cocaine I just like the smell of it" Nice line. lol
