Cure for Pain stands out in my mind for being the only record I've ever bought after hearing on a store CD listening station. I was a freshman in college and I heard it in Tower Records in Boston. I was open to checking out hyped indie and alternative bands then. I liked the slinky, rolling bass parts.

I could probably tolerate one listen today due to nostalgia but they were boring: all the songs sound the same. I hate the sound of saxaphones.

NOT CRAP, but with a WF of 7.

word. the night may be their best. as much as people talk about their sax/bass/drums instrumentation, i think their best stuff isn't tied to that setup; the night has all sorts of pianos, synths and whatnot.

yes suffers from dumb lyrics. honey white? super sex? sharks? i saw them on that tour and at least there was the two-saxes-at-once power chording stuff.

i think it is their best. contrary to the usual MO, the songs don't sound the same, or like any song previous. plus, i don't think there's one song on here about fooling around with a married woman. a topic they touched on how many times? a lot. even going back to treat her right.
