They came through Green Bay in 1996 or 1997...Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, Calvin Krime, and some other band with the word "demon" in their name and began with "the" played. The wrestling itself wasn't very good, but the spectacle was well worth it.

yeah and Journey sold millions of records as well. That does not mean they were making quality music.
I am not saying it's stopped being popular, as it's still going strong and making Vince lots of money...what I am saying is that it is creatively dead.
I was a huge fan of the early to mid 80's stuff, the improv stuff with no scripts and anything went.
Wrestling was so much fun because of the competition between the major companies had them always trying to outdo each other with goofiness and insanity.
There is no competition anymore, thus it sucks real bad because it can and still get by.
Wrestling gave up too many of it's secrets as well, people know what's up and it has killed it.

TNA is absolutely terrible in every way, they are doing the opposite of what they should be doing. It's like a really shitty lo-fi version of what the WWE is doing and that's just the wrong way to do it because you'll never beat Vince at his own game. It's so fucking bad, they have WWE guys from 10 years ago just doing their old schtick. That's just pathetic.
They've got Angle but he's done, which is a real shame.
They needed to go old school with it, get a Gordon Solie type to announce and just do good matches and take it seriously. Like an old NWA show, that style.
