Mention of the Bee Gees made me think of Al Green.

All of Al Green's covers were better than the originals.

"How Can You Mend A Broken Heart," "For The Good Times," "Unchained Melody," and more that I'm not remembering right now.

someone up above said nina simone...i totally forgot about her version of cyndi lauper's "time after time." she rocked it, her bass player rocked it...i love that you can hear her snapping her fingers at the end and it's all over the recording...dig it.
