It's a goddamn shame that the two two-hour movies aren't gonna happen now.

I'm about a million percent into this show.
It's right up my alley.
So happy to hear this.
I love historical based stuff and this show is beyond great and if you can stomach the inaccuracies and deal with the language, you'll be well entertained.
My mom loved Ian McShane in "Lovejoy", but could not deal with the language on this show.
It's a real shame because once you get past that, it is truly great television.
It's just almost better than "The Wire."

Yeah, that and the brutality... and the sex... and especially the sexual brutality are the main reasons I don't recommend it to my parents to watch.
Even though they both love The Sopranos, I don't think they'd be able to get past those aspects of Deadwood.

The roommate and I are watching the first season, and have no idea what the big deal is. Episodes 9 and 10 (as far as we've gotten) show glimmers of life, in that the writers seem content to just let Swearengen give extensive soliloquies.
What awesome aspect are we failing to be totally into here? All sorts of people whose judgement I trust gush over this show endlessly and I just don't get it.

Speaking of Deadwood, anyone know when those follow-up 2 hour episodes are going to conclude the series?

not gonna happen. something about they couldn't get all the actors together because of other stuff they are doing.
I read that the excessive language is there in place of milder curse words used back then in order to illistrate the impact that milder language during the period, or some crap.
