I'm curious as to whether or not Rush still gets played a lot on U.S. radio ?
I figure Nickelback would have taken over these last few years so far as Canadian content goes.

I don't hear really hear Rush, even on the AOR rehash station, but I don't listen much unless I'm driving around on the weekend. The overexposure to which I'm referring occurred in the late 70s and early 80s. You could not go a day without hearing or hearing about Rush if you were in a US high school during that time. Maybe it was regional, too. REO, Styx, Rush. Try living in a college dorm in 1981-82. Tom Sawyer, 24 - fucking - 7.

Yeah, Rush is all over the classic rock stations. Nickelback is all over current hard rock and top-40.

I already voted crap, but I gotta say this:

geddy lee's bass sound was great. how in the hell does it come through so clearly over the radio? i just awoke from an afternoon nap to "tom sawyer" coming through the tweeter, and sho-nuff, I could hear the bass line quite well, and it sounded nice and gnarly. not so interested in the way that fucking ugly ferret sings, and his bandmates are stupid masturbatory wankers, the lyrics are trype, but his bass sound is, well, kinda good.

That's because by that time he had stopped using that farty sounding old Rickenbacker bass and was playing a Fender Jazz.

Not Crap for the music. crap for the lyrics. That period between '78 and '80 was gogeous. I like the fact they're hated. I like the fact that people who used to like them now use them as a point of reference for how stupid their taste in music used to be. Exit stage left is a glorious album.
