I really hope you meant that your earplugs holder has a lock, and not just that it'd take up room in a pocket.
I keep them in one of these so they're always on me. I've got partial hearing loss now, so (in pre-pandemic times) it was much easier to always have them on me when needed than potentially forget them when going to practice or a show.

Right before Pandemic Times I had finally achieved the "I play music for a living" dream again, and then the 'rona and the Trump State Dept took that dream out behind the barn like Ol' Yeller. (Pinky Doodle Poodle's visa ran out)

While I realize this is not the "What did you do while the forum was driving around with May Pang?" thread, I can tell you that I farted around in the garden, played guitar every day, and put that PUA cheque in the banque like we were living in UBI world. I did not get very good at guitar but I had a fucking righteous garden.

Now I'm sort of trying to get back into the working world and ended up at the warehouse for the local coffee roaster. It's hard, physical work. A bag of green coffee beans weighs 150 pounds and they roast between 4000 and 9000 pounds a week. Last Friday I loaded one full ton of coffee into a van by myself, drove it across town, and unloaded it. I am beouf for the first time in my life, but my right knee is screaming at me about being a 52 year old hinge.

I miss traveling and I miss playing music. I am the sort of weirdo who never got tired of sleeping on floors and explaining to sadistic soundmen that the kick drum head does not need to be ported.

My lovely daughter is now 11 years old and 5'4" tall. My lovely wife now has tenure. My stupid chihuahua is still hilarious and weird. My cat is the size of a chainsaw and is still always hungry. My beagle mix just needs to be next to you all the time and hopes you will come visit, despite the wishes of the chihuahua.

Keys. I just carry a shoulder bag.

I've begun a system of key chain Voltron, too. I have my house keys, my studio keys, my car keys, my work keys, and my bike lock key. They can be separate key chains or I can clip them together in any formation.

A strange thing has happen in the pandemic, though. Since I'm not commuting to work, I rarely need my car or work keys. When I go out nowadays it's usually on bike. A lot of times, my wife will be home when I leave. More often than not, I carry no keys or just the one for my bike lock. I've gone from daily key voltron last march to basically being carless and having someone always home. It's kinda nice.

Today at work we were rigging power runs in a gymnasium. Since there was a basketball there, a couple of us fucked around with it for a few minutes. One of the things I tried was a half court shot. First try, swish. From half court. I tried a second and it went like the other 90% of my shots— airball.

From Monday:

My wife and I went camping up north a little way. We stopped at a coffee shop to buy some coffee because we forgot to get some. Unsure if our hand-grinder was in our camping bag, I asked for some of the beans to be ground. They said they can't. I said why because of COVID, people use the excuse for anything, so why not this. He said not because the coffee won't be as good if you grind the the beans before. I said Yes I know that but we are going camping and we don't have a grinder, I just need two days worth ground. He said he was sorry but he could not do it.
