Explain! I know we are on intersecting Amp Journeys and I've been considering an eventual DTB build.

So we're doing a variation on an AC-30 head with EL34s/cathode biased (40 watts.) Controls will be Bright Volume, Normal Volume, Treble, Bass, Master Volume, w/ hi/low inputs.

I've joked about calling it a U2-40, but I understand if the good doctor doesn't find this nearly as amusing as I do.

Nice! Add a half-power switch and that could be exactly what I'm after. But maybe that's less urgent with a master volume at hand. (This would be like 2022, 2023 for me, I'm just spitballing.)
I hope you're granted some leeway with the name for a personalized build. I admire the Balls stuff but I am the opposite of crazy about that name. But I get it and I don't want to deny him his at-a-glance recognition or anything. Was thinking I might lean into it and request it be written out "DR. TONY BALLS" in full, larger than normal.

Do you have a cabinet/speakers figured out already? I have zero guitar cabs in my life, incredibly. Was thinking I would eventually build a TL-806 or two to match the TL-606 for my bass amp. But I don't know what speakers would suit that kind of amp/cab design pairing.

Also the channels are joined more in the JTM/Bassman/JMP place than the Vox place so that they're both top boosted and blendable. And I went with VIP-40. Sorry it's the name i'd had in my mind for this sort of thing for a bit.

Man *I* get it....its a stupid stupid name but it's been a nickname for nigh on 25 years now and who the hell am I to take myself so seriously. In any case, the larger badge that says Balls is removable should one wish to go incognito

Awesome. There hasn't been a single day of regret on my V-30P (though maaaaaybe I would've pushed for a defeatable master volume). I noticed a lack of Cut knob mentioned, which I'd call fairly crucial on AC30 builds - will both volumes share the treble/bass stack then?

EDIT - just saw Tony's post about the inputs being blended.
