did you know: you have the loudest, most recognizeable voice ever. I was on the other side of the room and could hear your heckling like you were standing in front of me.

That was nothing compared to what he's like in a mastering session... that was really crazy. Fortunately I had my earplugs in for that session..... I mastered the whole album by smell.

I had to get a new futon after redline set the old one on fire...

These were my highlights from the Friday show (in no specific order):

1. Bumping into Todd on my way into the bathroom about thirty seconds after i'd entered the club. Naturally, i didn't realize who he was, and he scared the living shit out of me.

2. The playing of "Wingwalker" upon request of "Doris" (dunno if that was intentionally funny, but i laughed).

3. "Young girls blowing air on me in a quasi-sexual way that makes me slightly uncomfortable."

4. Call Me Lightning (added bonus. they definitely rocked hard. related question: what was with the old guy reading poetry?)

5. That new (non-album) song about the current state of rock radio. It's my new favorite Shellac song.

6. *The Best Stage Banter Ever*
Random Girl: I know a guy who'll give you flying lessons... [yada yada yada, couldn't hear her, doesn't matter].

Steve: I know a guy who'll fuck you and beat you and make you feel bad about yourself... I mean, he's not a friend of mine or anything, but I know him.

7. Bob's oh-so-professional handling of the questions. I'd cite a specific example, but it's late, and i'm tired, and i can't remember. sorry.

in short, easily the finest rock and roll spectacle i've seen thus far. i eagerly await the new album (the name of which i can't remember).

The complete quote from the girl was, "I know someone who'll give you flying lessons for a bottle of gin."

Yes, that person reading poetry was Thax. I'm pretty sure that you can get a CD that he did at North Branch Studios with Barry Phipps. I get this feeling of connection between all of these great shows that I've seen, because Thax began a good measure of them.
In retrospect, I should have stepped off the stage and utter-kicked Mrs. O'Leary's cow.

at first i thought he was just some guy they'd found on the street and asked to introduce the band... like some weird practical joke or something.

but i figured it was planned since he had a poem prepared about the band, and the band definitely seemed to know him (i.e., they weren't treating him like some guy they just found on the street). regarding the CD, where could i get that?

Man, last night was awesome...

I told my friend about 30 minutes before the show "If I hear 'Mouthpiece' and 'Killers' tonight, I'm selling my other tickets." Sure enough, opened with 'Mouthpiece,' and played 'Killers' towards the end of the set...but I'm still going to the other shows.

I think my favorite question was "What Is Your Most reoccurring Evil Intuition?" That was very unique...

For those that weren't there, Bob replied "When the light turns green, I think about just going and hitting the cars that are turning on their red light." Something like that...

Was Walter Mailing there last night? Cuz if he wasn't someone is using his one joke...
