I wouldn't call it disgusting, per se. But the influence on Kid A is obvious.

It's pretty easy to hate on this band at this point, but I honestly can't find too much fault with them. Some of the mid to later records get a little samey, but it's to be expected. I can't name many bands with this much output that always continue to evolve and amaze (def not saying Radiohead are one either).

I'm giving them a solid not crap.

I still enjoy a few of their records. I’ve seen them live twice, more than a decade apart. While I enjoyed both shows, it was strange to see them change from an introverted stage presence to prancing around the stage like Mick Jagger. My wife leaned over to me and said ‘I never would have guessed that they were so silly’

I thought I said Aphex Twin not Boards? Maybe just Warp Records in general?. Since this thread started I went back and listened to everything, that song Faithless the Wonderboy is really good. I don't think I will ever listen to them again. Honestly I don't trust any guitar player who uses that much stuff on stage, which might lead to an argument on Boris in the future.

Yorke has said many times that he buried himself in the Warp Records catalog after OK Computer, and that his insistence upon the new direction for the band nearly broke them up before Kid A was finished.

I thought that was kind of their whole Bowie in Berlin schtick, taking IDM and making stuff that could be played on the radio based on it. Seems like an winning approach to me, but I could see how purists might feel like they were appropriating a little too much.

You did. I just changed it to Boards of Canada because I can site several instances that are stylistic lifts from BoC on Kid A (Everything In Its Right Place, Kid A, Treefingers, Idioteque) to direct lifts on In Rainbows (All I Need, Videotape). Hell they even do the children samples. None of this is overt enough that they are the same song by any means. But the influences seem pretty specific and they do a great job of writing a good song around it.

I love Everything In It's Right Place. It reminds me of Future Days in a good way.

I like this performance of it a lot.

It's all the Radiohead I need.

It's funny to think about the hysteria when Kid A came out. "NO GUITARS!" Like putting down the guitars was akin to releasing a full length movie of all the band members passionately making love while eating each others shit. Smearing it all over each other. Lovingly, with big knowing smiles to the camera. Directed by Joshua Oppenheimer. Soundtrack by Eliane Radigue.

I also don't understand why they don't do that. Might be a bit late now but I still have an itch for the porn that changed everything.
