Ha, not a big fan at all, but we played Oliver's Army at my wedding reception (nevermind the lyrics, people were well soused by then).
Also knew a guy who had a well worn original Mighty Like a Rose T-shirt. That is all.

I wouldn't say it shits the bed, but File Under... is one hell of an underrated record.

Beaster tops both, of course.
i agree. Beaster has the best songs, File Under is a close 2nd, Copper Blue starts out with four absolute classics and then falls apart other than "Fortune Teller"
It's a good run in general, definitely one of the best second acts, especially a second act band, probably.

I’ve met plenty of fans, but come to think of it, I’ve never met someone whose favorite artist is Costello.

But I have definitely heard him played on jukeboxes. “Beyond Belief” was a surprisingly at one bar I used to frequent.

He might be in my Top 10. I've probably listened to "Imperial Bedroom" as much or more than 95% of the albums I own.

My mom wouldn't let me go to see them last time they rolled through my area. Judging by the date, I would have been 16 years old (April 1st, 2002). Which is weird, because I was never really disallowed to go to concerts at the time. However, year later on March 10th, 2003 (according to Setlist.FM at least), I was allowed to go with my friends to see QOTSA on the Songs for the Deaf Tour (Rye Coalition opened). Both shows were at the same venue, Ridglea Theater.

Other Confessions:
- I didn't get into GBV, Dino Jr, et al until about 2008. Wish I would have heard them all earlier.

Maybe she got it backwards and thought Fugazi were the only band in the world who did drugs.
