I already own this thing and it's not too far off...
How does this thing come into existence?
"Well, we didn't have any good ideas for a shape and just wanted to make a guitar that was easy to manufacture, so here it is: a box."
Or, was it: "Well, we have all of these wood planks left over. What should we do with them?"
I actually like the look of the cigar box/Bo Diddley guitars.

I'd love to see this shape really pimped out. Super nice piece of wood with a striking finish. Maybe even binding or a meticulously smoothed out edges, arm and tummy cuts, but still a rectangle. That would amuse me so.

It would be funny if it also had a treble-side access cutout that was itself just a plain rectangle shape.
PRF group guitar build?

I do like those rectangle guitars, but this is actually a good idea for coming up with designs. Get a big block guitar to start with and play it for a while, then modify it one step at a time for ergonomics and functionality. The down side is you eventually create something that looks like a Parker Fly guitar. Still, I'd like to try and scrap build a guitar from a few fence posts a little like the old Devo log guitar.

And a rectangular belly cut.
