Technically, I'm still working at home, so every day is casual Friday, but I like Lydia Loveless and old typewriters, so buying this was a no-brainer.

I tore my rotator cuff in the last week of September. A full-thickness tear. Shit sucks. It's been a few weeks of pain, immobilization, work, doctor visits, x-rays, MRI, co-pays, pills, slings (not the fun kind), et cetera, et cetera. Next week I'm meeting with an orthopedic surgeon as my doctor has told me that for this sort of tear an operation would be my best bet to relieve pain, inflammation, and get back the full use of my arm. As it stands I cannot raise it over my head or out to the sides. Pain radiates even while it is at rest. All of this ping-ponging back and forth between doctors and specialists, paying oop costs, it's draining, but I remain in good spirits. I'm employed w/ health insurance, and my employer is understanding about recovery time, I guess. I mean, they have to be. Regardless, there are folks out there experiencing more difficult times than myself - which brings me to today's t-shirt.

Darn tootin'. Part of my day job capacity is working as a Navigator for our state's health care exchange, so I help people access either public program or private insurance. The broken-ness of the American health care system is not lost on me (nor is a rotator cuff injury, although yours sounds like a doozy). I'm glad you're getting care, and I agree that something needs to happen. Well, something will happen, it's just a matter of when, as this current model is unsustainable.

I have this shirt, but can no longer wear it. I bought it outside their International 2 show in Manchester in 88 or 89.

Fuck, that's a long long time ago.
