They are one of the last bands one should bother foisting on the unconvinced, in so far as a one should bother foisting any band on the unconvinced.

Something about 'em . . . a switch is either on or off for most people. Not a breadth of middle ground. Fewer shades of gray than most popular bands, at any rate. A person usually either comes to the music of their own volition, or they don't, with whatever prodding being less important if it has an effect at all.

I even noticed it live, at the show I saw last summer (which was great, for those sympathetic to such music). Some people, maybe most in attendance, pretty into it, if somewhat reserved at times. Others (the unsuspecting or people's dates/wingmen/etc.), grinning and bearing it. No booing or groaning, but a certain distance (shifting in their seats, sitting when everyone else was standing, etc.).

Whatevs. Music be like that. Nothing to get bent out of shape over.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
ZzzZzzZzzz . . .

New Novel.

For me SD's music is vaguely evocative of 1970s dinner parties of my youth. It reminds me of being down at knee level while grownups enjoyed wine and banter. A vaguely familiar aroma would fill the air from time to time. Friendly warm socializing and smooth grooves in the background. 'Gaucho' mostly.

I 100% get the grossness but it's a fond sense memory nevertheless. NOT CRAP.
