I'd be interested if anyone had any related work, or would like to share sound-related tips and tricks with arduino, feather or Pi stuff.

Oh cool, I hadn't looked before, but I just say his (prolific!) SNWV Bandcamp releases page and from what I can tell he uses something called Max/MSP, which I'm totally unfamiliar with but seems to be a development environment (or design studio?) for multimedia?Garth wrote: Fri Jul 22, 2022 7:26 pmNot me but I believe Maurice (aka SNWV) has built his own program for thistwelvepoint wrote: Fri Jul 22, 2022 9:57 am might be a long shot here, but is anyone using microprocessors and code for their experimental noise efforts? 63I made a thing back in the early 2000's when I liven in Austin that has a bunch of slowed down field recordings of the Grackles that used to roost in the trees above my house. They sounded fucking crazy every night as the sun was going down. I mixed it into this thing through out the thing as the thing does it's thing.

Been running a Polyend tracker into that ring mod Vatican shoot glass recomened.

Ok, yeah that tracks - sorry it looks like I misconstrued something. When I asked him about it at Thundersnow I came away w/ the impression he coded it but I think his exact words might have been that he programmed it - derp. NOT the same thing obviously.twelvepoint wrote: Sat Jul 23, 2022 4:52 am I just say his (prolific!) 66I was deep into fast tracker 2 back in the 90s. I did a ton of stuff with it on 386. The 100 mb drive all my projects were on cost me 500 bucks and unfortunately crashed in the late 90s early 2000s. Still sad about it.Mickey242 wrote: Sat Jul 23, 2022 10:11 pm Been running a Polyend tracker into that ring mod Vatican shoot glass recomened.

This is really cool and well composed with a pleasing flow of textures and nice use of harmony. I could hear the birds clearly at about 8:30, although there were some chittering noises before that I couldn’t tell were very processed grackles or not.Kniferide wrote: Sat Jul 23, 2022 9:31 pmI made a thing back in the early 2000's when I liven in Austin that has a bunch of slowed down field recordings of the Grackles that used to roost in the trees above my house. Re: How we make experimental noise
I’m way out of my element here but it looks like Max supports code, as well as API functionality, and plays well with external hardware, so I think you were correct! I’d love to get a 30,000 ft look at Max, especially as it relates to external messaging and electromechanical controls. Arduino is my thing because it’s cheap and self contained but it’s neat to see what a more cohesive development environment can do.Garth wrote: Sat Jul 23, 2022 11:09 pmOk, yeah that tracks - sorry it looks like I misconstrued something. We get the grackles here too, hundreds of the fuckers.

They come and go. I think the only really process I did to them was speed and reverse. They make insane sounds on their own.
