Looks great, and I can’t even see the joint! I have some salted maple that looks like this that I’ve used for two tabletops and a bathroom mirror frame. Very cool character.Nate Dort wrote: Fri Nov 29, 2024 4:42 pm I recently made a mantel out of ambrosia maple, finished with Rubio Moncoat. Couldn't find a single piece 13 ft long, so I had to joint two pieces together. Turned out pretty good because I was able to get a decent grain match at the joint.

62Very nice - monocoat rules but F. Me it’s expensive. I’ve been really liking the satin and semi gloss general finishes poly, Been tru-oil finishing small stuff and that’s been nice

64I wouldn't have used it normally, but we have a table with the same wood top and that's how it was finished by the guy who made it. I wanted them to match.TylerDeadPine wrote: Fri Nov 29, 2024 9:53 pm Very nice - monocoat rules but F. Me it’s expensive. We commissioned a custom sideboard to match also:

67Have been building timber pile bridges in N-Scale with varying degrees of success. The one I made from a kit went okay even though I had to modify it to accommodate a curve. The deck I scratch built for a roadway needs a redo. The nice thing is that woodworking on this small of a scale can be done with scissors and a hobby knife.

69Oh wow, I for one would love to see some photos of your layout. At some point I’ll do an n scale model but don’t have the resources now.ErickC wrote: Sun Dec 01, 2024 10:20 am Have been building timber pile bridges in N-Scale with varying degrees of success. Re: Woodworking thread?
70I'm doing a large built-in cabinet, and have to make a face for it. I want to cut down the doors from a cabinet we removed, but matching the finish will be tough.
I'd rather be throwing darts.
