man.. and Vincebus is the -better- sounding of the good Blue Cheer albums. I like a lot of OutsideInside but you could crank up your stereo all the way and it still sounds puny and weird.

I just listened to OI for the first time in aeons, and it's mostly a great record. The Randy Holden half roars (edit: he's on the next album).

On the subject of him:

Alright, I've been living in this musical world for days and will soon cut the sleeves off my denim jacket and buy an old muscle car with a primer gray hood I'll never paint.

I still can't pick a favorite but have mentally canonized:

U.F.O. - Force It
Rainbow- Rising
Uriah Heep- Demons and Wizards

Cool, but didn't totally grab me:
Sir Lord Baltimore

Trying to think of where to go next. I can't decide if Pentagram is part of the category or if they're too late and therefore not 'proto'.

Aside from being heavier than most in that era I don't think Pentagram is very remarkable. Some of the early songs could pass for Blue Cheer though.

The above made me smile.
1970 Pontiac Firebird with a bored-out 400 and shaved flywheel. Fucking do it.
Those are two of my favorites as well.
