Is there a new Oxbow record? Fill me in.
Love's Holiday, and it's fucking great.
Yeah this is amazing.

This one is hitting all the marks for me.
Thanks for the recommend on this! While listening I was thinking that maybe you'd also be into Blood Quartet's new one if you didn't know about it. It is Mark Cunningham's (from the band Mars) new band and is similarly making moody instrumental music thankfully free of specific genre trappings.

woahwoah Blonde Redhead have an album coming out. Been a looong time since I listened to them. I was let down by 23 and didn't like Penny Sparkle at all, but around that time I was also kind of growing away from them.
Not sure about the songs released so far but this one sounds neat.

Listening to a ton of black metal this year.
If it hasn't been brought up, Lamp of Murmuur's offering this year is really great. If you're into 90's Immortal, you'll definitely dig this.

I've been doing a deep-dive on a band from Belgium called Youff and have been digging the results. Very much looking forward to hearing the completed record, but if the previously released ep, If Wishes Were Horses, Homicidal Beggars Could Ride - particularly the song "Reich," and the LP 20/20 Hindsight are indicators it's going to be a wild trip. Noisy, miasmatic, no wave lunacy.

This record is a revelation:
Joaquín Orellana is one of Guatemala’s pioneering modern composers. With his Utiles Sonoros, a series of custom built instruments that double as fascinatingly beautiful sonic sculptures, he developed a novel way of creating sound in the late ‘60s. Merging various percussive sounds with poetry, complex choral work and local folklore, Orellana’s music is both modern and primitive, with a powerful spiritual dimension.
His work also has a strong political quality, using his often abstract compositions to convey a dissident yet moving message in reaction to the many injustices and state oppression. Numerous Latin American composers from younger generations would be influenced by his approach, giving birth to an entire genre where music was both socially-conscious and heavily inspired by local folklore and history.
Until now, Orellana’s work was largely unavailable in recorded audio format, being more often performed live or showed in a museum.
Sacratávica brings together four of his iconic compositions from the ‘70s through the 2010s, for the first presented in a high-quality recording and packaging. This is not just the portrait of a unique composer but a historical release.

Sprain - The Lamb As Effigy
I loved their last album and have eagerly been awaiting a follow up. This is an album you need to put some time aside for. Really strong stuff with a lot of meandering instrumentaion in a good way.
