Gnarly sciatic-nerve pain when walking or standing for too long. Kind of a bummer since playing shows and going to shows are my favorite things to do.

Oh yeah, going to a show is a mild inconvenience instead of a joyful time to be social now. Forgetting earplugs means having to leave due to medical reasons.

Tamsulosin makes living much easier. One in the morning and right before bed. I also sit to pass water. More hygenic, you understand.
Filing this away, thanks.

Considering how many of you are in the US this is the most expensive thread created so far. The medical bills in this thread must be wild.

A little alcohol, eating well, staying active. Seems to be all anyone needs in other countries. I'd probably live longer if I was still smoking.

One thing thrown into sharp relief since my partner moved in with me is that I’ll get almost all the way through a sentence and stumble on the last couple of words, then have to pause and try to remember the whole thought I was trying to finish. I hate it and it happens damn near all the time these days.

This. I've gotten better at trying to circle back to the original thread. My advice, use AI for everything. Just kidding!

Having worked in software for so long, I found myself with a brain fog at the end of the day, carrying a mental load of systems in my head for the better part of the day. I've tried changing my work habits and the way that I work in order to reduce the cognitive load. I don't know what you do all day, but are there any habits you can change to help with that? I also have been thinking of learning to meditate. I've tried in the past, but my brain is always on overdrive and I have a hard time remaining still mentally. My brain is just filled with noise and I'm afraid it's going to lead me to have memory issues when I get older, just like my father, who I think also can't get his brain to shut up (though, maybe his problems stem from having grenades and bombs explode around him more than a few times in war).

Stupid ass routines like you need to drink a huge bottle of Gatorade before you go to bed or else you wake up with a stupid ass headache but then you have to piss in the middle of the stupid night.

Old age is dumb.
