But I'm with Mazec on her playing. My favorite SY bass lines were played by Thurston (on Confusion) or by Jim O'Rourke (MS and Nurse). My favorite Kim line is "Burning Spear". Which makes me think she is capable of coming up with simple but really effective lines but most of the times she chooses the easiest option of following the root notes. And I like her vocals on about 1/2 on the songs she sings, but her voice can be so annyoing. Certainly not on "Mariah Carey" or any ATL songs. She simply has no singing voice whatsoever, but she keeps on trying to prove she has one.

seriously. what kind of band hires ANOTHER bass player when they already have a bass player? jim o rourke played bass, now the dude from pavement (who plays really simple basslines, but i like his playing) plays with them. wtf?
Did you listened to Schizophrenia? anybody could think of 20 different basslines better than the one that kim gordon pulled off there.

Kim Gordon, I like the noise the bass she makes. How, the words that she makes with member band Thurston are how do you say turds in glass after writing contract with Mr Geffen. Sonic Youth she makes good sounds anyway.

Speaking the fakey italian she makes noises laugh laugh. i like it. was just fad 2005 that has left on side of road??

I've never liked Sonic Youth at all.

I did get to meet Kim Gordon once though, she was with "STP" when they were opening for us at the Pyramid one time. She was all:

"So, you guys are friends with Steve, right?"

"Uh, sure, yeah.."

"Can we use your gear? It's so hard to get around with gear in NYC!"

So they used our gear, didn't watch us play a single song and left without saying "thanks" or anything.

I guess I don't care about her or her music. Whatever.

i'd consider the bassplaying adequate and the singing god awful.

For me Sympathy for the Strawberry trumps lots and lots of other things Sonic Youth did. Like, lots.

I think she did a fine job playing bass. I think she does a better job singing on the more recent releases, but unfortunately they're kind of boring.
