Just found out my cousin didn't go to work the day of the bombings. My Aunt said that he usually takes the tube in question.

Law of averages would state that he'd still not be on that particular train, but the shit freaked me out something fierce, all the same.

thank fucking god.

Champion Rabbit!! Where the fuck are you?

Thanks for worrying, lovely people of EA!

Those bombs would have been timed perfectly for a Rabbit BBQ under normal circumstances, but the birth of CR#3 has bizarrely saved my furry tail since I'm off work on paternity leave.

My brother (who travels at the same time) took a day off to spend with his family and thus was similarly unharmed.

So much to take-in. So very sad.

Glad to hear everyone from this board is fine.

As a sad aside, I used to post rather frequently on a hockey forum that had a board for each team in the NHL. One of the Islanders fans worked in the World Trade Center and was killed in the terror attacks on 9/11. He had even made a post early that morning from his office. No one knew if was OK or not until his wife logged on to the forum about a week afterwards to let everyone know he did not make it out of his tower in time.

Barry Shostakovitch wrote:On Channel 4 news I'm sure they just said that 14 people died on the explosion on the bus in Tavistock Square? But officially the death toll is 2? I'm sure I didn't mishear it???

They've also just shown pictures of the front of the headquarters of the British Medical Association (right where the bus was) stained with blood. It's terrible.

The final death toll is likely to be considerably higher that just two. I think that Channel 4 were speculating based on eyewitness/paramedic accounts. It's not a particularly nice fact, but we can be sure that some people within the immediate vicinity of the explosion will have been torn to pieces. I imagine that forensic investigators will have quite a task identifying individuals considering the condition of many of the (dispersed) bodies. Sorry if this is a bit graphic.

So, has anyone heard from Johnnyshape?

I thought he was going to be in San Francisco around now. See here

Either that or he's in Las Vegas playing in the World Series of Poker. I wouldn't put it past him.

Thank you all for yr concern. Yes, I am in San Francisco, though I woke up in Sacramento to CNN and the scary news, and me making a load of flurried phone calls, to a load of luckily alive and well people.

Part of me feels I am am glad I am not home, and the Londoner part of me feels upset not to be amongst my friends and my city.

It's been a strange and upsetting day.

I do indeed have a Reno based winning poker story but ... later.
