Jaap Vink, last week. A good innings, and an even better body of work. Safe journey.

My hero, Joe Meek, shoot himself 56 years ago today.
You all should listen to Telstar!
Brilliant art, but this being a MURDER-suicide, I see no need to eulogize the man himself.

First I've heard of this dude. Beautiful music on the s/t on bandcamp. Thank you.

Steve Sostak from Sweep The Leg Johnny passed away. Had a lot of good times seeing them at the Fireside back in the day. RIP

This is terrible news. I haven't seen him in years but can immediately recall his kindness, his voice, his smile, his eyes and the way they would connect with you. I'm shocked and saddened.
Rest In Peace, Steve.

I didn't know Steve, I maybe spoke to him in passing a couple times, and by the time the band I was in was playing in Chicago on the reg I think he was already out of the country but seeing Sweep was a really huge for me, the intensity, the way they seemingly changed the air in the room before they even started playing, all of this was crucial for me. I had seen bands before, I had even experienced that sort of intensity but Sweep was one of the first times I felt like I was seeing people who were close to my age, who weren't already established (at least in my mind) and they loomed large.
When it came time for our band to make a record we did it with Mike Lust becuz he had recorded Sto Cazzo! A lot of really important things in my life I can trace back to seeing Sweep and Steve's stare. RIP.
