I remember seeing this for the first time in my early twenties, a new print. To be honest, I kinda wanted to dislike it, since I was tired of America gangster movies then, and the whole cult of machismo surrounding them. But it turned out to be very good, maybe not the best movie of all time, but good enough to be well rated, yeah. Haven't seen it since, but I did re-watch The Conversation a few months back, and it still holds up.bigc wrote: Mon Oct 28, 2024 1:35 pm I made it to 50 without ever seeing The Godfather.
Watched it last night with a buddy who was visibly upset that I haven't seen it.
Really fantastic movie.
Megalopolis, though . . . the more I've read about it (not having seen it yet), the less I think I'm gonna like it. Muddled "messterpieces" by auteurs tend to grate as I get older. Have seen too many of them.
