Actually, that's a good idea. If he's laying down to drink, it may mean he was having a hard time getting the water all the way down. Elevating the water bowl to about chest-level is supposed to be healthier for them.

I will try that, and hopefully my li'l buddy will understand that I am trying to do something good for him, and not just messin' with him...

CRIPES, I knew it - now he just thinks I'm messin' with him... now he comes right up to the water dish, lies in that same spot as before, stares me down for a few minutes, THEN stands up and gets his drink on:
