What?! He plays perfect drums on After the Goldrush.... and, yes, I tend to like Kenny Buttrey's minimalistic approach to Neil's songs but man, how can you dis Ralph?

Agreed on Molina, Brett. I think it's a testament to Crazy Horse's brilliance that they've managed to create such beautiful music with that douche on the kit. I believe Tim Midgett once made a minor defense for Molina by citing the drumming on "Heart of Gold." He sounds good on that song.

(PS - I think Kenny played drums on Heart of Gold, no? It was a Stray Gators record.)

He went to bed about a decade ago, or whenever he sold his soul to the bankers and the elites.

Ivy in 9th grade, a time at which i knew jack shit about drumming, and i was still able to identify him as a terrible drummer. no bass-pedal technique at all, ill-composed-and-executed fills, and use of tremendous speed and stamina in a vain attempt to cover it all up.

His name is Adam, I think. He wanted to be in the band but didn't play drums, so the other guys taught him how to play as they went along. Yeah, he sucks.

instant_zen wrote:...of course, there were a lot of bad drummers in a lot of bad punk bands. perhaps we should rule them out.

The list is probably endless.

As said before all the Misfits' stuff was pretty crap too.

i will play a devil's advocate role... i don't consider larry mullen of the fucking u2 a bad drummer. he probably lacks a lot of technical skills, who am i to say, but his drumming fits very well to some of their songs.. like begining of bullet the blue sky. or sunday bloody sunday. or with or without you. it's very simple? maybe, but i do remember his parts which i can;t say about tons of incredibly skilled drummers.

it's true, he sucks technically... but the things he plays and the way he plays them -- his aesthetic -- are/is good. that kinda makes up for it. he's not like the people who can't play and also play bad things...

I'm not the most laid-back of people; you know the way that people will often describe themselves as 'easy-going'? I would not describe myself as 'easy-going'.

That said, I'm not particularly prone to hatred of things that I don't like. I'm pretty good at just ignoring stuff that I don't like. I don't like Eastenders, but I don't waste any energy hating it...actually bad example, I do hate Eastenders.

McDonalds 'Fillet-o'-Fish' then. I don't like 'em, but I acknowledge their absolute right to exist. Also tinned spaghetti in a delicious, rich tomato sauce. I don't like it, but it's, you know, ok that it exists. I don't want to destroy it.

For some reason I absolutely fucking detest the band Mogwai. I have no idea why, but I really, really fucking hate that band. I hate them about the same amount that I would hate a man who eats live kittens. Or a genocidal dictator. A lot. A fucking lot.

If anybody knows of a Mogwai-related counselling program then I can be PMed at the usual address.

Ehem.
