This made my day:
web page about Simon's wrote:Simon's has an ongoing, unadvertised bar contest: if you can spot the five hidden animals in the lodge mural across from the bar, you can drink for free during the entire evening while wearing the helmet.
I also demand that I be taken to Simon's when I visit Chicago. I
need to wear that helmet.

Happy belated birthday Dr Kerble.
Here is a picture of you rapping about somebody's mother.
Here is you, Angus and Bumble.
Erm, I'm not sure about this one.
Ok, it's just weird now.
Fuck, I lost it. Disregard these.
Go back to the start of the post and then skip over it.

Is Simon's my favorite bar in the world?
It just might be.
Simon's.
You and me.
This weekend.
Before you are replaced by Andersonville's next coffee-and-muffin shop.

I lived in Andersonville from '93-'97 so I saw it really go through some changes. When I first lived in the area, I was on Winona, right by what is now The Hopleaf. Before it was The Hopleaf (dude, what is that you're drinking, a raspberry lambic?) -- it was an old man bar and it just had a neon sign in the window that said "Bottles and Cans" -- when you walked in, everyone looked at you suspiciously. Those were the days!

Pictures!
Faiz squeezes, the lady responds
Here's Gio on the cusp of realizing the power of his "humor". Andyk looks on in support, as Derek looks oddly matron-like. Electrons can be seen with a springbreak glow in the background.
Faiz, explaining the merits of the search function to an attentive group.
Faiz, pontificating on the effects of rotisserie chicken juice on tweed.
I left early. Here's how I imagine things went down after my departure:
Salut, revelers!
