"Killers" and "Spoke?" Fuck.

Say what you want about Denton/Dallas crowds, but they're a whole lot less obnoxious than Austinites.

I'm particularly tired of this whole "ok, I'm gonna take some drugs, get whacked out of my mind, stick my hands up in the air and start falling into everybody. Everybody! Your job is to help keep me standing! Enjoy the (my) show!"

agreed altho we use to always say that austin held the single braincell in texas, from which dallas/dentonites occassionally, and to their detriment, fed from

Really, you guys think that? I thought it was the reverse for these two shows. I couldn't get past the crowd chatter in Dallas during The New Year's set. Maybe it was just that the sound was much better.

Shellac were great last night in spite of the fact that the sound at the club was/is/always has been pretty bad. It's not the soundguy's fault either, it's the venue (which typically hosts "Goth Night" on Saturdays...sorry, kids!)

Many new stuffs were played, as well as many golden favorites. Todd hosted a drum-off at the end of the night. Steve saw a picture of my children and declared them to be "cute". I made Bob laugh when I said something about dicksucking.

I missed the New Year, though. Rats.

Salut, Shellac!

I second all of the above. I'd been waiting eleven years to see them, and they exceeded expectations. Really sterling fellows as well. I just hope that the Luling City Market they visited is the actual Luling City Market in Luling, not the one here in Houston which has nothing to do with the other and is a total ripoff.

I'm sorry you missed the New Year, Major, but I regret missing the DLI show featuring that Japanese dude. Andrea said it was fantastic. Of course, I insisted that we get to Numbers early. We took several walks, including one to the Hollywood Food Store a couple of blocks down. I bought one of the worst soft drinks I've ever had - Soho Natural Cola. It tastes like dicksuck. In anticipation of the next question, no, I don't know.

Some pictures i took of the show in Houston:

I didn't get any pictures of the "drumoff" or the chick playing Bob's bass, because it was frankly brutal, just brutal to witness. i mean the last thing i'd want would be some texan yahoos jumping onstage and putting their grubby mitts on my rig, right? Also there were some idiotic, downright atrocious questions during Q+A that the band managed to put up with in good sport.

thanks to the band for putting up with the crowd and coming through with a good set, as it were. i hope we haven't permanently turned you off to this godforsaken state.
