I really love the first two records. '23' never really gelled for me in the end. I doubt they have any more good records in them to be honest.
Good live band usually but last time I saw them in Toronto back in May they were sort of dull.

I haven't heard 23 but my two favorites are "In An Expression Of The Inexpressible" and "A Melody Of Certain Damaged Lemons" with the latter being my all time favorite of theirs.
Great band, NOT CRAP.
it's not the length, it's the gersch

73This is one of those bands that I saw the name repeatedly over the last decade or so but never got around to checking them out until last night when I listened to 23 repeatedly in headphones.
I absolutely love it! Its like Loveless II in my opinion. I had just watched Blade Runner for the first time the night before and Blonde Redhead sounds like they come straight from that world.
NOT CRAP!

Well (on this album at least) they are using the same engineer (Alan Moulder), the same "glide" guitar technique and very similar vocal stylings. Loveless was '91, this is 16 years later. In my opinion this could've been a great follow up album for MBV if Shields didn't pull a Brian Wilson.
As for MBV, its doubtful they can never top Loveless and have only put out two full lengths whereas BR has a bunch of decent albums and well into their career they came out with arguably one of their best.
I'm going to get super stoned and binge out on their other albums tonight
, and then probably go buy a Jazzmaster... Is it just me, or does Blonde Redhead (23 specifically) remind anyone of Blade Runner?

77i liked a couple of tracks from "an expression" for about a month. then i thought they sucked overall.

if you see any youtube clips of the '23' song on youtube, he plays a les paul junior and does all the gliding with a whammy. interesting.
so yeah, i'm a pussy.

80^interesting is right. A different technique for a similar sound.
But I still want a Jazzmaster (clone)!

I'm really liking the drummers style. I would have assumed there would be more than just guitar, drums and vocals live. Does anyone know if they have more than just background vocals on the backing tracks?
-EDIT-
The music video on the other hand shows only Fender benders.
