each girlfriend has tried to ban me from wearing a certain article of clothing, so that article is a pet peeve of theirs, i guess.

with my first girlfriend it was this sort of track top thing.

with the second, i think it was this sort of communist looking long sleeve button up brown shirt with red under the collar, particularly when i'd try to get the collar to stay up cause i liked the red. also this long fancy denim coat that was the only piece of clothing i'd ever spent more than $20 on, she hated that because she thought i was trying to look like a vampire.

my current girlfriend, she tries to forbid these certain chinos "you like you're wearing a trashbag". she gets me shirts, some of which i really love, but far too many are tight indie rock things probably made for 10 year old boys. i'm not trying to have a shirt ride up my armpits, conform to the nuances of my miniscule pectorals so as to give me cleavage, and possibly make my nipples stick out, just to get the damned indie rock look i dislike.

basically none of this would bother me if it weren't for the fact that i never, never try to tell a girlfriend what to wear, let alone what not to wear.

ok, so the post turned into my pet peeve, but whatever...

If you were my girlfriend this would bother the shit out of me.

Let the typos slide.

I leave letters out when I'm tired and ORNERY.

My ex only liked the more recent Silkworm albums, possibly finding the older ones too abrasive? I don't know.

My compulsive money spending annoyed her, well, except when it was on gifts for her.

Really, traits of mine was never really an issue as much as vice-versa. Other than when I broke up with her, that REALLY pissed her off. Just once though, so it wasn't a pet peeve so to speak.

If this happens to any of you (the first part), don't get upset. Nothing satisfying will come of it. Take a deep breath, and leave or stay. That is all it boils down to, one or the other. When my future wife eventually has an affair, I'll be prepared this time.

how'd you find out? was an ongoing thing?

i will use any sort of cloth available to clean up a mess. i don't care if it's fine persian silk or my girlfriend's jeans or the cat, if it's within arms' reach i will use it to wipe up a spill.

Brett, I tried the robot act on my wife the other day, when she asked me fetch her something. It worked...a little too well, I think!
