first time with Four Roses standard expression. Opposite of everything I enjoy in a bourbon: low proof, thin mouthfeel, reserved flavor profile, some bitterness, lack of complexity etc. it's spicy enough to be a good mixer, but i don't like mixed drinks.buyer's remorse. would have rather had Evan Williams.

not a dig on EW. for $15/750ml it's solid. the single barrel is great but I've not had the small batch. will definitely grab it next time @ $20.i was eating a rich meal this afternoon and took some pulls on the Four Roses. flavor profile drastically better w/ food, but in my book that's more a rule than an exception.

I'm sure they use anti-freeze or asbestos or something but kinda blows my mind how cheap this stuff is

We've got a guy at our local store that knows our taste. He recommended this a while back. I guess it won some award semi-recently so it has been flying off the shelves. Back in stock today and the price went up a bit to about 35 bucks. Still a good deal in my bookHenry McKenna 10 Year Bottled in Bond BourbonGot a nice little bite to it

It's been the why the fuck aren't people going nuts over this bottle for a while I think - ten years, 100 proof, single barrel, thirty bucks?Got a bottle of Weller Antique 107 - I'm friendly with the folks at the store so they let me get my grubby paws on it before it hit the shelf. Another good price/quality ratio bourbon, nice for folks who Just Like Drinking Whiskey. I do remember when it was ten bucks cheaper, though. Shame that everything Weller is so geeked-at these days - cork-sniffing approaches to bourbon are, I think, pretty antithetical to the spirit of the ... spirit. Also on a Reasonably Priced Whiskey tip, we've been keeping Rittenhouse Bonded Rye on hand again. There was definitely a dip in quality, or a change in character, when they moved to the new distillery, but now I think it's back up to the previous standard (if a little less rich than before). Made a few old fashioneds, basic as fuck with angostura and white sugar, and they were fantastic.

Just stopped by to say that I quit drinking, and while it's probably not great for me to wallow in these thoughts, I really do miss the taste of bourbon. It was really the only alcohol that I actually enjoyed drinking for the flavor. Alas, no N/A Bookers. Probably for the best.

I did get that Knob Creek Single Barrel store pick. It needs a little time in the bottle so I put half into a howler. Both bottles have ample head space.Should I have forked over the extra $20 for Elijah Craig barrel proof? Won't know until I try it. But I'm also not going to pay $15 for a dram at the local bourbon bar, so maybe I'll never know. Anyway I'm very pleased with the KCSB. OGD 114 isn't quite in the same league, but for the price, I think I'm going to hoard bottles of the stuff and not look back. It's literally like a few dollars more than OGD bonded.Has anyone had Evan Williams bonded recently? I heard some folks have gotten some uncharacteristically astringent bottles.

Haven't had Evan Williams 'bonded' so can't say--we always stick with that Small Batch and it is consistently good.Belle Meade is another go to of ours. Price seems to stay in the 35-40 dollar range
